With the Croftyrans done I moved onto the Crusader Miniatures from the 'Clash of Rhyfles' starter set.
So after building my first 10 Quar squad and undercoating with Halfords Matt Black Aerosol, I sat down to figure out my colours for them.
Firstly I painted my base colours (Vallejo),
>Trousers/Collar: Heavy Ochre
>Uniform/bedroll: Heavy Green
>Belts/Boots/Wood/Base: Heavy Sienna
>Metal: Black
I have decided on seven skin colours for the Quar, the base colour for each is.
>Red: Heavy Red
>Blue: Heavy Blue
>Purple: Heavy Violet
>Green: Heavy Green
>Yellow: Heavy Ochre
>Orange: Heavy Orange
>Pink: Heavy Orange
Once dry, I gave the whole model a wash of Agrax Earthshade.
Next comes the proper painting!
To finish the Model I painted it as follows,
>Trousers/Collar: Khaki
>Jacket: Golden Olive
>Jacket Collar/Sleeve roll: Olive Green
>Belts/Helmet strap: English Uniform
>Helmet: Heavy Gray
>Backpack/Kneepad/Helmet strap: Saddle Brown
>Bedroll: Highlight US Tank Crew
>Boots: Flat Earth
>Wood: Flat Brown
>Metal: Gunmetal
>Belt Buckle/Buttons: Old Gold
And for the Base I painted it German Camo Medium Brown and picked out rocks and stones in Basalt Grey.
Last thing to paint is the skin, so depending on the base colour, I painted with.
>Red: Red
>Blue: Andrea Blue
>Purple: Blue Violet
>Green: Scorpy Green
>Yellow: Flat Yellow
>Orange: German Orange
>Pink: Basic Skin Tone
For the Speckles I'm using pretty much random colours but keeping to reds and browns for the Base, while adding whatever colour looks good for the spot.
Once dry I varnished in Plastikote Clear Laquer, I find this protects miniatures really well and after apply a coat of Army Painter Anti Shine.
Once all dry, add static grass.
