Building Boards

A few years ago I bought the 'Contested Crossing' Terra-Former set from Sally 4th, and then didn't do much with it. Until now.

I built the frames, installed the polystyrene, and filled the gaps with decorators caulk. Using a variety of knives I carved the terrain and then coated the top with a mix of sand, PVA, polyfilla and a touch of water.

Now to the painting, firstly I undercoated with black (Halfords Matt black aerosol) and this did a great job of finding the bits of polystyrene not covered. So I filled these with wood filler and undercoated.

Firstly I under coated with Halfords Camo paint: Dark brown Aerosol, then a very light coat of Halfords Camo paint: Light brown.

Then varnish with Plastikote clear lacquer, then when dry, varnish with army painter Anti shine. And to finish, apply static grass.

The pathway I undercoated with vallejo Heavy Ochre, applied GW Agrax earthshade and then Panzer Aces Light Mud.

The stream, I painted with Vallejo German Camo Medium Brown for the upper banks, then German Camo Pale Brown for the lower banks and finally Brown Sand for the river bed. The stones and rocks were done in Basalt Grey.

I decorated the river bed with coloured lichen before using a two part resin for water. The resin done a great job of finding Unprotected polystyrene by melting through it quickly, so had to repair that.

Overall, even after multiple repairs, I'm quite happy with the result.
